Hey guys, i just replaced my speedo cable cause of a noise.
The problem im having is, from 0-35 MPH the needle bounces up and down 5-7 MPH until it reaches exactly 35 MPH then it's smooth.
I tried to make all the bends on the cable as smooth as possible, what could be the issue?

when an old one does that, graphite helps....were you supposed to lube it before install?
-
I assumed no, so i didnt lol. I'll pull it off again and ill see it that fixes it.
-
I lubed it up with some graphite at both ends. still doing the same thing. No sharp turns at all on the cable, the old one didnt do this lol
-
I've had that intermittently after messing around in the dash, or when it's really cold out. Make sure that the cable is fully seated and retained onto the back of the gauge, and that the square hole socket in the gauge isn't rounded out.

you have to lube the WHOLE cable inside the sleeve....
-
I dumped a good bit of graphite in the tube and wiggled it around the best i could to work it down.
I'll probably take it out again and grab another one tomorrow while i'm at work. Home fully it's just defective.

Ahh crap. come to think of it, i did accidently bend the cable when i installed it, about 60-70 degrees. looks straight but i guess the inside isn't

New cable works like a charm!
