I just bought this truck and the owner said they only used the driver side tank I want to get both up and going so my question is are there two fuel pumps and yes I'm going to clean tank out 1st and this is going to learning experience because ive did little work like this

Carbureted has a mechanical fuel pump on the cylinder block.

I see this is your first post so welcome from NW Indiana. Being a 1985 the fuel pump is on the engine if it is stock. Verify the dash switch works, (a common reason why folks of used trucks only use one tank). With the ignition on without the truck running you should be able to hear the electric valve that switches the tanks back and forth operate. If you don't there is a thread in the technical pages that explains how to take apart the switch and clean it. That is where you want to start.

When I got my truck the switch didn't work because where the wire ran through the fire wall it had rubbed and exposed the wire causing it to short out.
