Post by: 84chvy on November 02, 2011, 08:47:46 pm
alright guys. i have a serious issue. my garage does not have a door and my truck is in there. and last night i was awakened by cops arresting some kids for messing around my garage. when i got my truck it did not have the door key. and i have been putting some serious time money and effort into my truck. it will be drivable after i put my new tires on. so what can i do? replace the door locks? or can a locksmith cut me a kay? help please!

I can get door locks with keys for $20 a set + shipping.  If you pull the locks the dealership may be able to make a key.

I would also get a really mean dog,  ;D  and make sure you thank the cops for catching the kids in your garage.

A locksmith can do it while you wait. I would go this route as it keeps you from having too remove the door panels etc. Everyone charges a different rate but I would guess 50 give or take a little. Worth a call and if its too much just get a new set and go through the work.

Yes just find all the screws.  Look the lock from the inside.  Pull the clip that holds it in and don't lose the loop on the back of the lock. Push the old one out the front of the door.  The ones on my truck was the only ones I've done.  Mine is manual locks II don't know how they are with power locks.

I would reccomend replacing the locks just for safety. I myself have to get new locks for my truck and was wondering where to buy them? Another option if your locks are original is to go to a dealer with your vin number and registration and they can cut new keys.

Is there any possibility of adding a door to your garage?

I'd probly invest in a door before tires. If its not the truck, then it next time it could be all your tools.
