I am stationed in Virginia Beach. We went up to Marine Barracks Washington for the Medal of Honor Parade at 8th and I. It was awesome! What an amazing down to earth Marine. It was truly an honor to experience history in person.

OmegaJ1 welcome to the site from California. You should post in new "welcome" under "general site info" so everyone can say hello.

US Army, 1963-66. VietNam 1965-66 Big Red One from Fort Riley Kansas. Search and Destroy missions. We were not treated so good when we came home back then and I am so proud of how we now welcome our men and women back home today. It has been a while since I have been on here. I also now have another truck, my Father-in-Laws 1984 Chevy Silverado long bed with only 75000 miles. Red and I guess Beige. I was lucky, I cam home an E-5 and no wounds. I also spent a tour in Korea.

I can remember when my Dad was stationed at Casel Air Force base close to Merced, California and we rented a house not too far from the base on a farm. The base seemed to use the two silos on the farm as a landing and take off patteren. Those B-52's and KC-135's would be so close over our house we could almost throw a rock and hit them. Well, maby a sling shot might hit one. Man those things were loud when taking off. One crashed (a B-52 on take off) and we saw the smoke as we were coming home from school on the bus. But I do not think anyone got hurt. I was only about 14 or so at the time so not really sure. This was like in 1958 or so. Seen a lot of them over in Nam back in 65-66. I think they are still using them today. Not sure if the B-52H is the same.
