My window did not go all the way up so I removed the panel to find the glass out of the rail.My question is there supposed to be an adhesive to hold the glass in place or does it just ride freely? This is my 87 with power windows. Thanks
-
It rides in there freely. The rear sometimes needs to be readjusted to keep the glass from coming out.

Chris, I wonder if he is talking about the glass itself into the channel at the bottom that rides on the regulator. This would have had the rubber tape stuff which has probably dried over time & failed.
Taz, The "rail" you are talking about is it the vertical one toward the back or the horizontal one that moves when you work the switch? Lorne

I just assumed we were talking about the Glass since he said it was out of the rail. Taz, can you clarify?
-
The horizontal one that the glass sits in.It appears to have something there that has seen better days. Thanks
-
Ah, THAT one. Yes, the one the Scissor jack with rollers hook to is part of the glass assembly. It was glued in as one piece.
-
Can I ask what can be used or what was used to hold the glass in place?
-
basically windshield type glue.

Thanks
