Title: Newbies from northern Utah
Post by: fixits on November 10, 2011, 08:11:20 pm
I say newbies because my 16 yo daughter bought her dream truck, '82 Chevy K10 shortbed, and I as dad have become her  auto shop teacher and chief tool fetcher as she works on her truck.

So far she has replaced the front brakes and an outer tie rod end, did an r and r on the starter and tightened the header bolts. I help with loosening and torquing bolts but she insists on doing all the work herself. We have a problem and need some advice so gonna hop on over the the tech forum here and do some research.

We look forward to contributing to and learning from the forum and happy we found it.

Scott & Baylee

Welcome from Alaska.  Sounds like a great family project.  I taught my daughter to do a number of basic maintenance items like change oil, check coolant, check air pressure in the tires, etc.  It helped her to avoid unscrupulous shops.  Nothing like what your daughter is learning and doing.

Howdy from Oklahoma.

If it weren't for working on an old truck through High School (I had a  1964 F100), I'd probably now be indebted to many mechanic shops... It will be a fun learning experience that will pay off greatly in the future.
