I'm new here and hopefully can get some answers! I have an 85 k-10. My problem is my gas gauge works fine on the pass side tank, but not on the driver side tank, I put new tanks, and sending units in both. I put a new switching solenoid on and a new tank switch in the dash. The driver side goes way past full. Can you help?

Welcome to the site from NW Indiana. "Usually" a way past full indicates a bad ground on the tank that is giving you fits.

We checked and rechecked ground. Cleaned and re attached the ground to no avail. Is it possible the gauge could be messed up and only tread one side? Or am I looking at wiring issue? Thanks

If the gauge works on the other tank you must have a wiring issue then. Wish I could help more.

That's what I'm afraid of lol. Thank you for your input it's greatly appreciated.

Welcome from California, one way to determine if it is electrical or mechanical. Switch sending units around and see if it is still drivers side or now the passenger side is affected. If it switches to passenger side, it is problem with sending unit.

Ugh that sounds like no fun at all lol! Before I put new sending units in it did the same thing. I'm just hoping I can maybe get lucky and it be the gauge. But I think I'm gonna be checking wiring.

Well that changes a few things, if it did it with the old sending units too, I would say it is not the gauge, otherwise it would do it with both tanks. Next is to check your grounds again like zieg said.
Was it the same side before that did it ? If so it would have to be a wiring issue.

Have you looked at the posts in the Tech section regarding these?
