Title: Veteran's Day
Post by: PromiseKeeper on November 11, 2011, 10:08:16 am
I know that THANK YOU is never enough to show my appreciation for all the men and women of our armed forces have done to preserve our freedom and keep us safe. I appreciate the sacrifices you all have and are making. There is no way someone like me who has not served can fully understand what that means. All I can do is humbly say THANK YOU. God bless you all!

Actually you guys down south use the wrong term, today is Remembrance Day :P.  But seriously, I am grateful for the freedoms because of the sacrifices of the Canadian forces, American forces, and others.

Every Vererans Day we take time to remember the veterans that have served, continue to serve, those who sacrificed all while serving. And deservedly so. We remember those who have served and passed on.

On this Veterans Day I hope all will take a moment to remember those who are still on the eternal patrol. Remember those who still man their post, even though they should have long since reported back to the Zone of the Interior. Remember their loved ones who contine in their sacrifice as well. Remember those who never had their homecoming.

Please set aside an extra moment just to remember all who are still MIA.

I went to a Veterans Day breakfast at work today . I had no idea how many people I work with had served our country .It was a very moving ceremony ,there was a table set for the soldiers missing in action who have made the ultimate sacrifice . I don't know if I can handle going again next year as it got very emotional . I myself had never served , so I really never understood the meaning , until this year when  my sons enlisted . I'm so proud of them and miss them very much. Its been hard on the family but I know they are doing  the right thing .

thanks to all. on a side note i heard they where going to do a "wall of faces"  or something like that instead of just the "wall of remembrance" so its not just a name its a face with that name. anyone heard anything of this also? one of the guys i play xbox with lost his brother in Vietnam his name is on the wall but he was talking about how someone wanted to get a picture of him also

Yes, there is a call going out right now to try to put a picture with every name on the wall.

I wonder why they are asking the public for this. Every soldier is photographed at his graduation. The military maintains these for possible future identification.
