Title: Spindle bearings
Post by: Senck243 on November 13, 2011, 09:26:54 am
Rebuilding front end on my 84 chevy k10 with new axle joints ball joints tie rod ends drag links and bearings. I can't get the spindle bearings out. Is there a trick to it or a special tool they make? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

EDIT: misread...

Are you talking about pressing out the spindle bearing?

What I did was take a piece of sch 80 pipe and from the other side of the spindle I tapped the bearing, washer assy out.  Then all I had to do was reinsert everything in order and tap the spindle bearing in another piece the same size as the spindle bearing.  It is not pressed, more than likely stuck and needs some persuasion.

I took a mini flat bar and inserted it from the opposite end. It had the right bend on it to get down the neck of the spindle and right behind the bearing. Tapped all around until it came out.
