Is there any other years that the bench seat will fit in an 83

1981-1987 on up to 1991 rear seats in crew cabs if you want a direct bolt in. They physically bolt in down to 1973 however the seat belts need to go through the seat bottom to be right and the 3 point system is different on the older ones. Crew cab and Suburban front seats also work but don't tilt forward to access behind the seat and the seat sliders either have to be bent in the rear or use your 1983 ones as the floor contour is different where the rear sliders mount. That is the easiest replacement. All others will require custom mounts.

zieg85 pretty much summed it up. I know 88-94 seats are the same size but not a direct bolt in.

I used my old brackets on my 88-94 seat just had to drill two holes in the seat frame. So they are pretty close to a direct fit and a nicer overall fit to the truck as the seat sits lower and has a thinner back for more room.

I had the 88 and up seat in my truck and replaced it with a seat from a 83. I found that the new seat was to narrow and was not as comfortable. But it is really a personal preference as to which seat you want.

Thanks I may end up redoing the old one

I didn't realize it was that easy to swap. Yeah I think the 88-94 is more comfortable for sure.
