i was looking at a 91 suburban and noticed the door mirror was a longer black style. was this an opition in 91 ? same doors .
-
Yup, should be the same door shell.
Those black plastic mirrors started showing up in the late 80s, but weren't very popular. I prefer the larger stainless steel mirrors that came out in 1980, and ran through the end of 1991 production.

I think your referring to the black smaller power mirrors? Had a 1990 suburban 2wd with those, robbed the doors to put on my crewcab removed the black mirrors and put on larger stainless ones. only difference which is very suble is where the mirror meets the glass. the window glass it self has a patch about 2"by 3" of black material in the glass so its blacked out. Why I don't know it does'nt effect anything. Other than that there the same.

thanks for replies.yes that sounds like what i saw.is there a larger mirror that will bolt to these doors in place of original stainless mirror that will help for towing? 2 things i have found for these trucks that is very hard to find is a tube step that goes the full length of the door and a bolt on towing mirror.[without having to drill more holes]

you must mean mirrors like what's on my 91 sub http://www.delbridge.net/suburban.html

Those were only available for 1989-1991 Silverado's.
