Will a glove box lock fit the center console door? It looks the exact same. I found this:
http://www.classicparts.com/1973-91-Glove-Box-Lock-Key/productinfo/22-356/ (hope that link's ok never seen it mentioned...)
Mine's broke. It won't latch the console door and I don't want it flopping all around so I need a new one.

I do believe that the locks are the same, as for the housing, I am not sure. You should be able to switch the tumbler assembly (if lockable) or the mechanism and use the same housing. Hope that helps.

I'm afraid I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the housing

On the link you put up, the part of the lock with the hook and the latch is the housing. The middle of the lock actually comes out of the housing, if it is a lockable latch, then the tumbler assembly is the part in the middle. The chrome nob is part of the inner mechanism and the light grey part with the hook is the housing.

It WILL, but you have to take apart both the new glovebox lock and the old console lock and make one out of the two. the mounting part for the glovebox is different (I dont remember exactly what) but the parts you need will swap around properly.
When I redid my truck, I bought a locking knob for my glovebox but decided to use it for the console instead. and since I got the ignition with matching door lock set, the square key works my ignition and door locks and the round key is for the console only.

That sounds right to the best of my knowledge. I don't have a center console but, I was pretty sure they are the same. Good job Kenny.

Nice. Thanks for the help. I'll give it a shot once I get to restoring the console.
