Title: Rear parking brake cable...
Post by: Sodium Duck on December 03, 2011, 01:56:30 pm
I'm replacing my rear e-brake cables. I got Dorman brand. What is up with this? The passenger side cable has a nice rubber bushing, fits good, no problems. The drivers side one is all metal, doesn't fit in the rear of the drum housing, no rubber bushing, is not working... I went back to the parts store and asked to see another one. Same thing. Is it supposed to be different?

Also, I can't believe that a parking cable connector and parking brake equalizer is a dealer only part. That's dumb, too.

Okay, I'm done complaining.

On my 12 bolt I have in the rear that I just rebuilt, both sides have the "bushing" in them along with a metal "tab" that goes on the inside of the backing plate if I remember right, so they don't pull out.

Like I said mine is a 12 bolt, but I would think both sides are the same.   As far as getting parts at parts outlets, when I went to redo my needle bearings in my Dana 44 front axle, I ordered 2 kits, 1 came with everything, 1 came missing the oil slinger, I went back and the parts guy told me it wasn't necessary, I told him mine was rusted and needed them both.  It took him 6 kits to get another kit with the slinger in it.
So I am not impressed with too many auto parts stores these days.
