Does anyone out there know if the interior trim (Door Panels, A post, kick panels etc) are made of ABS plastic or not. I am getting ready to update the colors using SEM and I have to test for ABS to determine what products I have to use according to the rep I spoke to at SEM. I can test by touch the back side with a littlr Acetone and see ifit gets tacky. If so it's ABS, if not it's some other kind of plastic. Since I don'y have the interior apart and don't have Acetone handy, I thought I'd ask. I know there folks in the forum that have done this before.
Any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest to PM either capt. or vile, either one of them should know or be able to point you in the right direction.

I guess I'm still not sure. The link gave a good instruction on how to do the restoration. Thanks for that. I just didn't pick up whether the panels were ABS plastic or not.

If you can determine whether the back side of the panels of what you're trying to dye has the now-common recycling symbol on it, that will help. '87 vehicles may be too early to have the recycling symbols. If it has the symbols, there will be an "ABS" inside it. If it has other letters or numbers inside then it's something else. If no recycling symbols you will have to utilize the SEM test you mentioned.

Thanks for the info. I will check for the symbol.

I was pointing out that the SEM paint will work on any 73-87(91) so you don't have to test unless you have aftermarket pieces.
