Wondering if anyone here has attempted adapting a 2007+ Chevy Crew Cab Rear Seat into our 3rd gen trucks? The main reason I would like to do it is to put something like the DU-HA storage container under the fold-up seat bottom. Perhaps the high floors for the saddle tanks would preclude that idea?

Like the idea! No help on if it will work or not would be interesting to hear from others how they have made use of the rear seat area of the crew cab. Stock seat leaves alot to be desired with making use of "all that space" you really can't even put spacers in to raise the seat to gain more "storage space underneath" because of head space issues. We have alot of crafty people on this site would be nice to see the rear seat varations that are out there. Using a combination of folding/ transforming newer seats that are out there it would be great to find a way to go from flat storage area/ maybe quick detach seat to folding user friendly seat. Alright lets hear some ideas!!

I thibk if you want storage space, youll have to ditch your saddle tank(s). Like, put a blazer tank or fuel cell in the rear between the frame rails. Then you can take the floor pan from a blazer or.burban and make a flat floor in your cab. Then you can put any seat imaginable in your truck.

I'm going to go to the wrecking yard...when I find some freakin' time and measure on of those seats up and look at how they are mounted. I also have a good friend that has a 2010 Silverado, but unfortunately he is 3 hours away so hard to just drop by and measure. One difference between our seats and the newer seats is that they are a lot thinner in the seat! That would give you some storage space right there! I keep threatening to go crawl all over one on the lot, but never seem to set that priority very high.

The sadddle tank bump really eats up space ,going flat on the floor pan is really headed in the right direction. my truck has 3 inch body lift and that leaves enough room to go flat in the rear cab area. The factory rear seat needs to go on a diet its thick. I will see if I can get some measurements on the newer seats.

OJOE used 98 Crew Cab seats in His, not sure if they fold down.

Sweet! Eric, do you see a new rear seat in your future?
-
I do, but I really want to get DU-HA style underseat storage in my crew. That would be sweet! Unfortunately...all of my time is being concentrated on the construction of the shop right now.
My crew is down right now while I wait for new stainless transmission cooler lines from Inline Tube. I purchased their 88-94 1-ton 4WD lines and they are not the correct ones (CaptKaos told me they wouldn't be...and he was right)! So...I shipped those ones back along with my factory ones for them to duplicate.

DU-HA?

Would involve getting rid of the saddle tanks and modifying the rear hump in the floor to get some room under the seat. Or possibly just getting a thinner profile seat and a shallow storage area. However, removing the saddle tanks also gets me to my other wish and that is AMP Research Powersteps under the cab. The saddle tanks are in the way of the steps retracting.
