I am currently fixing up a rough truck.. Im thinking of going with red... napa sells this stuff called metal pro.. has anyone tried this product.. imthinking a massey red :) , Im curious as to how bad it may fade. Im wondering if its not just glorified tremclad with a catalist. Any thoughts? Thanks

Is it this stuff: http://vistapaint.com/products/4800 (http://vistapaint.com/products/4800) ? Waterborne acrylic? I don't know man. Probably won't perform as well as Tremclad/Rustoleum in general. Not that it means anything, but they claim it as an alternative to Alkyd enamels when solvent fumes can't be tolerated. They claim no other advantages to Alkyds.

Nope.. thats not the stuff.

If it is the product I think you mean, it is going to fade with UV light on it all the time. Might want to ask a paint store about it and get a topcoat to protect it.

How fast is it going to fade.. are we talking months or years?? The truck will never be stored inside. Its like a paint direct to metal urethane type stuff... im not sure how much better it is then red rust alkyld... in which case.. maybe a year

If you can get me a link or product data sheet I may be able to give you an idea

After seeing this link posted on this site and subsequently reading and seeing it, I'd lean toward the Tremclad/Rustoleum for a good looking cheap paint job.
Both links reference the same car.

As zieg said, the only way to make a educated guess would be to see the data sheet and the MSDS on the product to see what they are using in the paint.
