Hey guys. Just looking to get some ideas on the best ways to go about an engine swap. I currently have a 406 (400) in my shortbox and am looking to upgrade to a big block 502. My current engine has less then 15k on it. Just looking for your best ideas to go about this? Id end up selling my current setup. Ive been looking mostly into turn key engines because i dont have a ton of time to build an engine up. Wheres the cheapest place to get one? Ive checked out JEGS and summit so far...Any ideas would help, thanks in advance!

The cheapest place I would assume is the one with a special on now. Are you looking just for cheap, or reliability without breaking the bank ?

I mean if I'm gonna spend the money I want it done right. Just didn't know what type of 502 I could get my hands on that has great performance but isn't ridiculously expensive...I'm not looking for very top end but I'm also not looking for below average material. Like I said, if I'm gonna do it, I want it done right. Reliability, power, performance...

If you are mechanically inclined, I would go with a reputable engine builder, or get a short block and finish it yourself. I know a lot of people like tuffdawd engines, gm sell's crate engines that are reputable, I know summit sells engines, though don't know anything about them.

If you're going to buy one delete the word cheap from your plan of action.
