Went out and helped a buddy cut some wood today. First time I'd really loaded the old beast down and I must even I was surprised by how well it handled it. I also must admit I probably enjoyed getting out in the woods and doing some real work as much as he enjoyed the help. Here's a few pics and a short vid coming out of the woods loaded down:

That's not what I meant by "these". :) Still, it was nice to see some classic iron out getting some exercise even if one was a Furd.

not the F word..i thought this was a family site.
that trucks looks right at home w/ all that wood. And, I like that year Ford too--right around '70. My dad had a red one i remember as a kid. Of course, he also had a '76 Cheyenne that we yanked the 350 out and put in a 327. We loaded her up plenty times with oak.

I honestly think the older trucks are more at home in the woods working then the newer ones are. around where i live people are afraid to go in the woods with anything newer unless its one of the gas well trucks.

Wow, your truck has a radio? :P

In the future make sure you go first. That way when the furd takes a crap out there you won't be stuck behind it and you have a ride home.

Barely. AM/FM 8track w/no antenna. Listening to the Rams would not have been my first choice.

I had to keep stopping to pick up all the wood the Ferd kept chucking off. :)

What kind of wood were you cutting? When I lived in Wyoming we used to heat w/ lodgepole pine. Not the best but it was free and we could get all we needed.

Mostly oak with a little hickory and elm thrown in. This was free also, just cutting up stuff that had fell on my buddy's farm.

I just copied and pasted the img tags. If there is a 4 pic limit I missed that somewhere. If I need to take some of them down would one of the mods please let me know?

Upload limit is 4, you can link as many as you like, just be reasonable... 25 would be overboard if they were fullsize images.

In my defense this was the first load I'd put on this truck. The spring hangers are rusty, the bed floor makes swiss cheese look solid, the back tires are dry rotted blems and I just rebuilt the motor so I wasn't wanting to push it too hard on the first outing. It handled it just fine though and next time it's getting a real load. The funny part was when we moved from one cutting spot to another he hadn't ratcheted down his wood yet and pieces kept falling off and I kept stopping to pick them up and throw them on my Chevy. Kept telling him the Furd was overloaded and it was shucking off what it couldn't handle.
