Title: 82 Scottsdale
Post by: Elpresidente on January 03, 2012, 12:54:02 pm
I bought the truck in June '09 from my uncle. I'd been bugging hm for a long time to sell it to me, then one day he bought a new Silverado so the Scottsdale was mine.
It started out as a stock truck, 305/700R4/open rear. I've almost completely overhauled it, the only thing I havent done is the suspension and cab mounts.
Recently done:
GM crate 350
rebuilt 700R4
positrac unit w/ 3.08 gears
Hooker headers w/ dual exhaust and thrush turbos
New sheetmetal, painted Honda metallic blue (I liked it)
New brake system/frame restored
Next spring, all new heavy duty suspension and a homebuilt headrack.

my 87 r10 has a 3.08 posi traction rear in it also works fairly good in the snow!

Adding the posi unit and better tires was like night and day. I can go places in the snow I wouldn't have even considered before, just throw some weight in the box and it goes where you want (within reason) lol

No. At first when I put it in, it acted somewhat like a locker and would chirp the tires on corners.  After a while it "broke in" I suppose, and now I don't even know its there until I need it.
DONT forget to add limited slip fluid to the diff oil.
