Title: 1991 V3500 Radiator Core Support
Post by: ehjorten on January 09, 2012, 02:19:11 pm
Looking for an OEM core support for my Crew.  What years would be the same?  I am looking for quad-lamp supports.  There is an '89 and a '90 very close to home.  I'm thinking that those would probably be the same as they are within that last 4 years of the R/V models.

What happened to 1988?  Plus technically, GM changed the C/K designation in 1987 in preparation for the 4th gen. C/K truck launch.  So...no I still count 4 years or technically 5 years if you include '87.

Or did I read your post wrong and you were trying to tell me that 89-91 radiator core supports are the same?

Correct, the 87-88 still had the vertical stacked headlights.Even though the new truck C/K line started in 88 the Blazer and Suburban kept the same core support and grille for that year, then in 89 they were redesigned with the horizontal headlights to resemble the look of the new truck. So the core supports are as follows 81-88 then 89-91.

Awesome!  I love learning something new!!  After thinking about it I was wondering if it had to do with the headlamp configuration, but wasn't sure.  Thanks!!

Made the mistake of not finding an oem support when i converted my crew to the new style 4 head lights used aftermarket rad support very flimsy if even put a knee on it it wants to bend down lesson learned on my part. While your at it and want brighter head lights try using relays to control your head lights is a great way to get the voltage directly from the alt/bat to the head lights as opposed to the voltage going through the switch then to the head lamps.
