Title: Axle compatibilty question
Post by: cptn60 on January 12, 2012, 09:30:28 am
Here's what I did; just installed a new set of 3.73 gears in my 86 c10 with an Eaton posi i bought off craigslist. Go to put the axle shafts back in, found out I now own a 30 spline unit and have 28 spline axles. So my question is, can 12 bolt axles be installed?

What did the Eaton come out of ?  Or was it just listed by itself.

Only 10 bolt axles will fit in a 10 bolt. 12 bolt axles will only fit in a 12 bolt.

@ Bake; Out of a late 70's Camaro. Had a 4.56 ring and pinion laying there, I didn't buy it. Car had Moser axles, he had a spool and different gear he was installing.

Sorry to hear that.  If I was you I would sell off that unit and find one that has the right spline count.  As stated before you won't be able to swap axle's.  It would cost too much to get custom one's made.  It is easier to find the right one and sell that one.
