Title: Cracked dash...
Post by: Elpresidente on January 12, 2012, 04:04:04 pm
My dash finally started getting the famous splitting problem, right infront of the wheel so I can see it all the time.
Its not bad, yet. is there a way to slow it down/stop it? or better yet fix it?

The plastisizer is going away and the dash is shrinking and getting brittle.  Some say an Armoral type of product will help but all plastic will eventually do that as they age.  The UV rays help break down the plastic as well.  Click on the site banner and go to the store, Capt sells a dash cap that all that have used it says it works out well.

They make several "dash repair kits", I have never repaired one but they are all over you tube and the internet.  I am with Zieg though, if I was not going to replace the dash I would get a new dash pad.

Vile Zamboni had a good thread on here in which he reaired one and it came out great. Maybe you can dig it up and check it out.
