Post by: 84 chevy guy id on January 22, 2012, 04:51:03 pm
Where can I find some replacement covers that snap on over the ends of the door pull straps?

Growing up with an '86 GMC Suburban and '87 GMC Pickup, my family and I learned pretty quick to never use the pull straps because of those plastic covers.

Yeah, those aren't "pull" straps, they are decoration.

I occasionally use the pull straps just to close my doors, but I mostly use the door handle/armrest. 2 plastic covers were missing since I got the truck, one from each side. I think they only come on the higher packages, as mines a silverado and my friends trucks dont have them.

On this note...are covers available for the '77 Silverado?  This is sometimes called 'Cowboy' trim.  I would REALLY, REALLY like to find some of the pull covers with this scroll finish and also the trim that goes around the upper section of the door panel (that the pull strap covers snap into)!

Are you talking about the woodgrain on the 1977?  Not available, there was a post Jason S put up on this asking about them.

I checked with the dealer on the later covers and they are still available, 17 bucks apiece. How much are yours Chris?

Capt.  I think Ehjorten is talking about door pull covers for a '77.

The trim surround on the '77 had an ornate chrome/black pattern that was repeated on the door pull cover.  When I had a '77 back in the '90's, those door pull covers were still available from GM.

Yep...Jason S got it!  The '77 Silverado Trim had what some call 'Cowboy' trim.  It was a very intricate/ornate trim.  You can kind of see it on the Trim Surround and Pull-strap Covers in this picture:

Previous owner didn't know how to take off the Trim Surround and he ruined it on both doors.  Now it has screws going into the door pad from the show side!  >:(

I'll have to check with my local Chevrolet dealer.  I bet it is no longer available, but we shall see!
