Can anyone direct me to a list of what year trucks have caps that would fit a 73-87 long bed. I'm sure there is a topic on this already but my search has not brought up anything. Thanks.

From experience, best fit for obvious reasons is ones made for the Chevy/GMC 73-87. Next is the 1980-96 8 foot cap off of a Ford full sized 8 foot bed. The Ford caps are a little wider in back and appear to stick out as the Ford beds don't taper back in like the GM beds do. The earlier 67-72 GM caps fit but some look funny as they don't have the same angle of the cab rear window section. It depends on how picky you are in looks. I usually buy one in the Fall and sell it in the spring but have kept one for several years because I finally ran across one that was meant for the truck and fits great. Dodge caps are a little wider and the newer Chevy 88 and newer are to narrow to fit right. My $.02

I would like to find one too just to have. I started using them on my work trucks. Put them on for the winter or whenever needed in the summer. I got to say that I prefer the cheap aluminum ones over the fiberglass. I have a nice fiberglass one on my Mazda but it is really heavy for a small cap.
Guess I outgrew tools and stuff getting soaked in the back of my trucks.

Can not beat them for camping or hunting either. The aluminum ones are so much lighter. Back in my hay days ( you know when we had to crank up the cars in front to start ;D ), I had a job building toppers when the boom was in, everything about the aluminum ones are lighter, even the glass that is in them.
