i have a couple questions.
1. what is a pyrometer?
2. can i hook up an air/fuel ratio guage on a quadrajet?
3. would a trans temp guage be needed on a th350?
4. are Equus good guages?
-
a pyro is more for a diesel then anything it tells you how hot your exhaust is. about half of the big rigs have them. trans temp is up to us if you do a lot of pulling and hauling on big hills i would just so you know if your cookin your trans, but that's me. I'm going to put one on my 700r4 in the spring i think along with a trans cooler. the other 2 questions i don't have an answer for but someone else might know.

You can install an A/F gauge on anything with an exhaust pipe. Just weld in a bung for the O2 sensor and and wire it in.

cool. thanks for the info guys.

I've heard good things about the equus gauges but never personally run them, I've run autometer's and had zero issues

Isnt a pyro gauge more focused for turbo engines, not just diesels? Dont need a pyro gauge on a non turboed diesel or gas engine.
-
I only ever seen pyro gauges when i drove big trucks but i know they tell ya how hot the exhaust is.

I have a friend that has Pyro gauges in all his diesel trucks (1stick, 2 automatics). His trailers he tows are all between 8,000 - 10,000 lbs. It shows a red line that he says to stay out of otherwise you run the risk of the heat damaging something of the truck ( sorry I did not pay attention better, but he was rambling on about how much power his trucks had, and after that all I heard was blah, blah, blah ).
Anyway he made it sound like any higher performance diesel at least should have these.
