This seems like a very controversial issue! Just thought i would be fun to see what the poll would be!
-
I hate them but just about every parts truck I buy has one.
I save them all, other people love them and they do sell.
-
how much would u get for one! lol ;D
-
Probably had at least 100 of the 73-87's over the years, not one ever had one. I have had trucks that had signs of one being on it but I look at is a big wind catcher. I don't like bug deflectors either of whatever what goes behind the cab are called and goes to the bed or aluminum running boards. But 2 each is own. Some don't like toppers no matter what but a tasteful one that fits is OK with me. I prefer the looks without but they sure come in handy at times. My $.02 and visor only has one s in it...
-
Really, You Asked? :o
-
They serve no purpose other than looks.
The only reason I have one on my truck is that it had one before. I like the look myself but I also like the look without them. When mine went missing the only thing that bothered me is that somebody took it. I was fine with the new cab not getting one. When it showed up at the back door of the garage it took me 4 days to decide if it was going on. I had it duct taped to the roof and asked everybody what they thought, the results were that it looked like my truck again with it. A bonus for me was that I thought the amber lights would look good with my new paint color.
Drilling holes in your roof is the downside for me. Make sure that you are certain you want one before you install it. And do it correctly or it will leak and ruin your cab.
Everybody has different taste when it comes to these trucks and if they were all the same it would be a boring hobby. To me they look good on lifted 4wd trucks but I don't like the look on a stock or lowered 2wd truck.
-
Depends on the "look" of the truck some trucks just wouldn't look right with one. They are functional , helps keep snow and ice off the windshield in winter. and they do keep the sun out of your eye.
I really think they only look good on 4x4's with a mild lift , and only 81-91 trucks they look out of place on the 73-80's

$50.
It also helps to have them around while selling other parts. If someones trying to beat me up on the price of a tranny I will toss in a visor to get the full price.
-
I've put them on other trucks in the past and i may put on with lights on my 85 but still undecided on if i will or not. But i agree they look good on lifted trucks more then stock or lowered trucks. razorbacks are in the same category more with the lifted trucks.

;D that's funny right there!

Thirsty,
When I head north to check out your wood stove I'll bring some visors to trade for a front row seat

Cool... if we can get Vile to come too we can duct tape one to his rig after he has a few beers! :o
Everybody wants a front row seat at first then they realize why the chairs are moved back so far.

That's a big negatory on the visor action, Western Hauler.

Thirsty, if that ever happens I will send you money just to see vile's truck with a visor on it. Better than the price of admission to the movies. ;D Though I need a pic of vile's face when he comes outside, that would be classic. >:(
-
Its a no from me. As previously mentioned I thing they're just a bird perch to stop pigeons pooing on the screen!
-
I always loved them on the 3500's, but my Suburban '80 RWD is just too "sporty" and not "trucky" enough. 8)
-
i would love to figure out how to put several visors on my truck, i love them so much.

I've heard of several "under" the truck............usually the wheels!
-
Wow, you visor guys are getting beat up today!!
I'm just gonna sit here quiet and keep my mouth shut. :-X
-
After I put my windshield in and install my visor I'm gonna take a picture and post it! ;D lol
Even will light it up for the pic :o
Then Vile and Bitzer probably won't even talk to me anymore...haha
-
I'm probably jealous 'cos I haven't seen one over here!!
I won't block anyone - I need all the help I can get haha
-
Thirsty I wouldn't mind having one myself but I just don't want to drill holes in the roof of my truck
-
That's my only issue with them. I like the look just not the idea of the holes!
-
I'll try real hard to be nice. ..... .... ;D
OK I can't, I hate them. Loathe them! It's not just because I think they're ugly but they take away that look these trucks are born with. It's like if people had square butts. It just doesn't look good or belong there. Not trying to insult anyone who likes them but take it off and see how much better it looks without it. I also have a stack of these that I won't sell because I don't want anyone to put them on their trucks! Yes my biggest petpeeve and thirsty I'll still talk to you lol
-
;D
-
leave my square butt out of this.
-
Trucks with visors should be a calendar category!!!
-
I think you've bumped your head Beastie!
-
I never said Id vote for it...

Ok, I am with firefighter on this one, It seems like the younger generation likes them and the older ones don't.
-
I turned 20 in 1997 and the visors where on everything back then had them on it. Even my first 2 4x4s had them.
-
http://www.buyautotruckaccessories.com/product.cfm/cf-bin/pn.lund-sunvisor/ I think I'm just going to do it and get one.
-

LOL ;D
-
The more i think about it they look good on lifted 4x4s and 2x4s that sit higher off of the ground... idk kind of depends on the truck. i dont thin that id want to put one on my 86 c10, but my western hauler and my former 85 c20 would look good with one i think! ;D
-
I do not care for them myself. I do think they look fine on the 40's and some 50's trucks. Also some of the older cars. If they were popular they would have them in the 73'-87' parts catalogs. They also look good on some models big rigs. MO
-
Its a regional thing as well. You dont see too many in Cali, but I believe they are very popular in the south and midwest.
-
Lund the company that made them is no longer in buisness. At least thats what I was told by a local speed parts store that carried all that stuff.
-
Still around, just don't make Visors or the other 80's-90's stuff anymore.

Thank you Chris.

my former boss just bought a new 2011 gmc denally crew cab short box, and put lund accesorys on it, like runing boards and bug guard on hood.
