Would there be any disadvantages to putting no-hop traction bars on a pickup truck? Any reduced load capacity, or change in ride? Just tell me what differences would be caused.
-
Possible reduced articulation off-road is about the only downside I've ever heard of.

Don't forget reduced ground clearance! It's a TRUCK man! If you want to drag race, get a Camaro.

Well, that ain't too bad. It's got about a bit over a foot of ground clearance (about 14 inches), so that shouldn't affect ground clearance that much.
Also, would I need any for the front, if I had a set out back?

How come traction bars always span forwards? Why not span them backwards above your departure angle and attach them to a sturdy rear bumper?

Crap, I found a problem preventing the use of traction bars. This is the fact that the leaf springs on my truck are on top of the axles.
Hmm...now I need a new plan on how I'm going to get any traction at all under hard acceleration.
-
Are you an old Jeeper? Most full size trucks have springs on top from the factory. Mine had tracion bars on it when I bought it, but it also had rear blocks at the time. I have all spring lift, so I didn't put them back in.
A plate was fabbed to mount to the inner two bolt ends of the u-bolt plates, and a bracket was mounted to the frame by the front pivot shckle mount. Then a bar was made with an eye, like a shock has on each end, with urethane bushings, and the other end had the threaded end like shocks on cars. Wish I had pics... What do you need all this traction for and are you sure you need the bars to begin with?

Summit used to sell a kit for that , they called them Kicker Shocks-basically a shock mounted forward from the top of the u- bolt plate to a pivot point on the frame-i didnt buy the kit, but made my own for a 3/4 ton -dont know how they worked, i sold the pickup without finishing it.
