Can any one give me a break down on on the different 4 wheel drive turbo350 trannies ? What years had the lock up converters ? Were there any output shaft length differences between different transfer cases ?

The TH350-C was the lockup torque converter version introduced in the late 1979 model year, and was produced through 1984. This later version had an electronic lockup converter to increase fuel-efficiency at cruising speeds. The TH350-C lockup version can be indentified by an electrical plug on the left side of the transmission. When paired with an aftermarket TCC control unit, these can be desirable transmissions, and up to 10% more efficient at cruising speeds.

My research came up with 6" 9" and 12" output tail shaft lengths. Sorry I do not have a reference source, but I got it off several sites. OK I found one forum talking about the same so I will post that discussion for you to read.

Thanks Bake. That Novak link helped a lot. The only other question I have is are all the 4 x 4 tailshafts the same ? The tranny i have has a shaft that sticks out of the housing 7/8"

If you are talking about spline count, I do not know this for 100%, but I have read that there are different spline counts on the 350's.
If you are talking length, I am pretty sure they are all the same on 4x4 models, if I am wrong someone will take the opportunity to correct me so I can know for sure. ;D
