Title: mud racing?
Post by: winky on February 07, 2012, 10:42:58 am
alright so if your from alabama you probably know what im talking about for sure..  we have mud races down here. just a track you go around once or twice. its made out of dirt, mud, and water. any one ever been to one of these and if so do you like them? the main reason im asking is because ive been helping a friend build a truck for one and he has half way convinced me to get involved in the sport lol.. i like going fast and i love mud trucks so why not mud race? i have a 4x4 frame at the house and a junk cab and bed to throw on it and a front clip. i could pretty much build a truck for around $500 not anything fancy but it would run. what do yall think? (im addicted to racing too btw :) had a 78 chevy with a 383 in it that would blow past most of the bumble bee cars in tuscaloosa AL)

I used to mud race "back in the day"  ;D,  it sure is a lot of fun.  (the clean up was always a pain, good thing I had a hot pressure washer and a place to clean it).
I would cut out the fenders and open them up some if you are going to do it, I ended up doing that to every truck I ever raced.  Otherwise it kinda did it for me.

Driving from here to Vance today, I noticed lots of out-of-the-way bogs east of Tuscaloosa. Some of it was on power line trails, so maybe not the best place to rag out, but they still looked like some fun spots.

Me too back in the day.
We used to go to unsanctioned mud bogs. They were really just big tail gate parties. Lots of trucks, lots of beer, lots of girls in bikini tops!  ;D

i'd say go for it, but my real question is:

How is it possible to set up a track or really just a place to race and not have the neighbors/community complain and try to get it shut down?

Lake View, right up the road. I applied to Averitt for a dedicated run out of the Merc plant.
