Title: what fits in older models?
Post by: bowdown916 on February 21, 2012, 12:48:48 pm
Sup guys, was wondering if anyone know if the cab or maybe the bed of a 70-72 c10 model will work on a 1974 frame? im trying to start working on my project truck and i have more parts for the 74 then 70,so i can either go for 70 body style or 74 but either way i will need to find the cab and bed...

If you are talking about putting a 67-72 on a 74 chassis, the 74 chassis is 2.5" Longer.

Stepsides up to 87 came with a wood floor. Some early fleetsides had a wood floor also.

As thirsty said, all step side beds came with wood floors and very few fleet sides came with wood floors.  Why not put a metal floor into your step side ?  That would be easy to do with not much work at all.

Yes I am, and if you want help I would be more than happy to help you out.  I am a pretty good designer and fabricator, I have done a few rock buggies in my day so putting a steel floor in a step side would be a walk in the park.
I did not know you were from Sacramento, we should meet up some time, that makes 3 of us here in Sac. that I know of.

Wood beds on Fleetsides were optional, there is a post here on it somewhere. They were not popular.

NO pick-n-pull will not give you titles, I have tried.  They have to scrape the title when the pick up vehicles.  There is some kind of law requiring them to scrap the title in order to sell off parts, DMV has a record of all scraped titles in case a part shows up later on a vehicle, they can tell it came from a scrap vehicle instead of being stolen.
