So the truck in question is a 1988 V30 C&C 454 4bbl(W VIN) with an intermittent check engine light. Ive scoured the internet and autoparts store racks but its like these trucks fell through the cracks.
Meaning after 87 all the wiring diagrams are for ECM based TBI systems and the diagrams from 1986 seem to more closely represent this truck.
The check engine light will go on for a little while after hard towing and then after a few hours of easier driving it goes off.
I don't think it has an ALDL connector to test. Is this correct. If so what does the check engine light mean for a carbureted 454(Rochester QuadraJet).
Ive also looked at the GM Heritage website for info and after 1987 all the paperwork is for the GMT400.
I know only the 1tons retained conventional cabs but is this a rare truck being that its a 1988 4bbl ? (I also have a 1987 V30 dually with a TBI 454 and an ALDL)

Correct,
There is no ALDL on your truck. I will scan the diagnostics out of the factory service manual for you.

The wiring, service, unit repair, and emissions & driveability manuals for the 87-91 RV trucks are in the tech section. Hope these help.

This post was like 4 years ago and I don't think he's been back since then.

i think it's fascinating how you could get a crew cab or 1-ton regular cab all the way up to 91?
