Title: Grandad's 21st Birthday
Post by: 78 Chevyrado on February 29, 2012, 06:05:11 am
Today would have been my Grandad's 21st Birthday.  He died a few years ago, but I still remember Feb 29th.

A cute story about him...

In 1972, My Grandad was having his 10th birthday on Feb 29th, and my Uncle was celebrating his tenth birthday on march 5th the same year.  There was a story about them in the local newspaper that said "Father and Son Celebrate 10th Birthday Together!".

Pretty freaky, really, like they planned it all out or something.   :D

Thought somebody would get a kick out of that.  I know I did when they told me when I was 10.

I in no way want to sound anyway except that I am sorry for your loss, but I am confused.  How can it be your grand dad's 21 b-day ?  Do you mean it would have been 21 years that your grand dad and dad have been together ?
Sorry, now I am just too curious to let it go.

Leap year

yep.  I hoped that would mess with someone!   ;)

He's not 21 years old, but has only had 21 birthdays.

Ah, that's probably why I never paid much attention to leap year.   ;D

We have some rules in our garage. This is number 6.  ;D

6.   No alcohol shall be consumed between the hours of 6:00am and 7:00am on February 29th unless it is a leap year. Only then can this rule be ignored.

my neighbor when i was growing up just put on her facebook that she will turn 67 tomorrow.  I told her it's a shame she wasn't born on Feb 29, she would only be celebrating her 17th birthday.

This first came up on my tenth birthday, so as a child you can imagine I thought they had all gone nutty.  I didnt believe them, as that was impossible.  Took some time to get a grip on that one.   ;D
