Title: CAM CHOICE WITH SUMMIT VORTEC HEADS
Post by: cliffw1210 on March 14, 2012, 11:49:47 am
I got a set of Summit Racing Vortec Heads, and specs say it will take a .510 lift, but whats a good choice size cam to run with these. Any suggestions? I appreciate any comments. I am building a 355, flattop pistons (2 valve reliefs) new eagle crank, and new rods... That's all i have so far.

What are your honest intentions for the truck?  Street/strip, all out drag, daily driver, tow/haul?  This, your tire size, gears, transmission type, weight, compression, exhaust type, etc etc make a huge difference in your cam selection.   Most manufacturers have websites that let you spec out what you're doing and let them choose a cam that fits.  That's the route I'd go.  Just remember,  be honest with yourself about what you want.
