I am looking for info on doing a 5 speed swap in my 1991 Suburban. I tried searching but came up confused, I want to run hydraulic setup, right now it has a 4L80E and a 241 transfercase, and still has the tbi 350 in it, its got 6" of lift, and a FF 14 swap, along with a Dana 60 swap in the front. I have a 5speed from a 1993 can you give me any pointers on what I will need to change/ come up with? I also have a few 205 t-cases if you think i should try one of them, ones for a t350, and the other is for a sm465

The most common swap for these trucks is the NV4500 trans which is a 5 speed. Is that what you have out of your 93 ? Most all you will need for the trans is the adaptor plate between engine and trans, the 205 should bolt up and be a great transfer case for your set up.
You will also need all the clutch pedal assy. rods etc., and the hydraulic setup from a donor truck to finish the install. There has been many threads on this swap, do a search on here for 5 speed swap if you have not already done so.

I did do a search, but I think I confused myself with the info, you said adapter plate, is that different then the bellhousing? as far as the transfercase, is there one that would be better to use? i.e. the 4speed one, or the t350 one?

I would use a NV4500 and use the bellhousing out of any 1T that came with that Trans. You will need pedals and the hydraulic setup to go with your 91, and it would be best if you got a 85-91 setup. The NP241 should bolt up to the NV4500 if it came from a GM truck.
If the 5 speed you have out of the 1993 is no a 1T it will be a NV3550, I doesn't have a granny low, and it will become the weak link in your 1T setup.

I am not sure what it came out off, how can I tell if its a NV4500, or not?

NV3500 is all aluminum and the bell is cast into it. The NV4500 is cast iron with a bolt on aluminum Bellhousing.

Sounds like both of your NP's are the old style figure 8 bolt pattern. What year are they? This will most likely take an adapter to hookup to the trans.
A lot of info in this thread.
