Title: New guy in Vegas
Post by: Thet on March 19, 2012, 11:09:47 pm
Hello everyone.

Name's Jordan. I'm 22 years old stationed in Vegas at Nellis Air Force Base with the U.S. Air Force. I work munitions (Ammo) and love trucks and Harleys.

Always loved the older Chevy/GM trucks. Grew up a Chevy boy, and just been itching for a truck lately. Right now, I have a 2011 Harley Davidson Street Glide and a 2005 VW Jetta GLI. The Jetta will be sold off sooner rather than later for a number of reasons, but mainly is I don't need that much car when I ride the Harley every day. I made a huge mistake when I bought it and owe alot more than it's worth...

So after searching, I came across this, a 1980 Chevy Scottsdale for $1300:

I apologize for the smaller pic on top. It was his pic from his online listing. Technically, the truck isn't mine just yet, but I'm waiting to pay for it in full until I sign for my house (which is a freakin' nightmare!).

From what I can tell, it's in excellent shape, especially for it's age. Just a little over 60K miles. 4x4 works great. 3 speed transmission with granny gear. No radio or A/C, but for as much as I'll be driving it and the price, it's just about perfect! Almost looks like it's sitting a bit high to be stock, but I looked and don't see anything underneath that would point to a lift.

Future plans:
For starters, I think I'll end up adding some sort of speakers in it. Gotta blast the country music so the ladies come a runnin'! Not sure on what the setup for that will be, but I doubt I'll end up putting a sub in it at all. Probably just a few 6" or 7" speakers and a head unit.

I really want to throw it up on a 6" Skyjack lift. From what I'm hearing and reading, it's a dang good ride compared to others when it's all done right.

I suppose I'll eventually repaint her (I did 2 years of auto body/painting in high school) and clean her from head to toe to get her looking nice again. But I think I'll enjoy not having to keep up on keeping her clean.

Welcome from Alaska, Jordan.  Really hope you get it.  You will enjoy it driving around the back country of Neveda.  It looks pretty rust free from the photos.
