Title: A/C Box Sealant

This has probably been covered before, but with my computer psu down, I'm surfing on here with my iTouch and searching is painful on this...so...what is the correct sealant to use between the two halves of the A/C Box and to seal around the openings for the evaporator pipes?

I'm fixing up my '77 box and have everything cleaned, painted and ready to assemble.

So is it just like butyl rubber tape like for windshields?  Cut it into smaller strips?

EDIT: I got into work this morning and did a search...guess you can buy butyl rubber caulk at almost any hardware store.

Use A/C insulation tape around the pipe openings...

A product called M-seal is somewhat like butyl tape, but has a foam core (instead of solid which makes it flatten much easier) works well. Any good autobody supply store or glass shop should be able to help you. It comes in several diameters...I would use the smallest, 4mm I believe it is. Lorne

I used regular black RTV... GOBS of it.
