hi,
I have a 1974 GMC C15 2WD LWB 350ci. and is having the option (heavy duty suspension front and rear with H/D shocks), but the truck is only having 5 leaves on the rear springs with an aditionnal 6th looking like a heavy load leaf(thick one).Up front there is no sway bar and the regular size coil springs.
My question is:
The truck is nearly 30 years old, i would like to rebuilt it exactly to the stock specs for the rolling chassis and suspension,But the truck ride height is too low for me. and i would like to know if any of you guys have a fairly new and similar suspension on your truck and could tell me how many inches you got between the ground to the top wheel opening.I would like to know if once i rebuilt my stock suspension it will stand much higher that it is right now, or simply be about the same.
thank you very much.

Chances are your suspension may sag a bit but not alot unless the truck has hauled alot of heavy crap or has dragged a trailer a considerable portion of it's life. If you are after a stock spec. heigth truck as soon as you rebuild everything with new parts you will have your answer. Raising a truck an inch or two is easy and cheap. I would rebuild first and then decide if you want it up more or not.
