I have a 1976 Chevrolet C30 I just bought recently and the runner lights and gauge lights will not turn on. I was able to use an external power source to make the lights turn on so I know it is not the lights themselves. Also I have replaced the light switch and that did not fix the problem. All of my other lights work.

Blown fuse or poor fuse connection with terminals in the fuse block.

Alright, I checked all of my fuses they are all fine except for the accessory fuse. The weird part is the top of the accessory fuse has no power coming to it which i'm guessing caused that fuse to short out. Could that have anything to do with it?

Does your fuse block look like the one in this diagram?

Do the turn signals work and does the fuse just to the right of the ACC fuse have power?

I am trying to follow, do you mean the fuse block to the right on the diagram that shows it is empty (acc. blank ing.), or the one to the top of acc on the diagram. Or is it just sideways on my computor ?

If you look at the diagram from the back side of the page you'd see how the fuse block is wired... ;D
It sounds like there are two distinct problems: 1) tail & dashlights inop, 2) ACC fuse blown. Referencing the wiring schematics in the Tech section (both the diagram I pointed to and the "Instrument Cluster" diagram, the ACC fuse is powered by the ignition switch. The two terminals directly above the ACC fuse receive power from the ACC fuse. If the ACC fuse is blown, the two terminals above the fuse will be dead. One would have to diagnose the Accessory circuit and blown fuse as a separate problem from the lights.
The tail and dash lights receive power through the "TAIL - STOP - COURTESY" fuse via circuit 40, a 16-ga orange wire that feeds the tail & dashlight circuits of the headlamp switch, as well as other electrical devices.
I would use a test light rather than a voltmeter to diagnose this complaint, because a test light will slightly load the circuits and better reveal marginal (lightly oxidized) electrical connections.

I get it now. I was looking at it from as if I posted it, all I was looking at was the 1 diagram you referenced, I was just trying to figure out what fuse block you meant.
Sorry if I seem like I am confused (probably am), when you referenced the "back side" of the page, were you meaning another page or turning that 1 diagram you linked over, or just visualize the back side ? ( I don't see how you would flip the referenced page over and see anything, told you probably thinking too much ).
I agree with you it seems like it is 2 different problems.

It was a joke... like turning a photograph over to see what the backside of the image looks like. You can't do it. The limitations of two dimensions. :D

...the wiring connections behind the fuseblock are revealed.
Of course, all of this is moot, if 'awright' has a different configuration. That's why I asked if his fuseblock looks like the one in the original diagram. :)
