Title: Seat swap
Post by: DTrain on March 27, 2012, 11:21:59 am
I found a seat out of a '99 z71 and want to put it in my '84 silverado. Has anyone done a swap like this? Will it even work? If it will work is it a huge pain in the rear? Just wondering if I'm crazy.

You should delete one of your posts as it is posted twice or post a disregard. Anyway when you are looking for a seat consider the height that that the bottom will have to be mounted. Also the thickness and height of the seat back. To me every inch lost feels like 2. Also I believe in '99 the seat belts are mounted in the seats.

2000-2006 are mounted in the seats. 90-99 shouldn't be. Unless you happen to get them out of a tahoe or yukon.

The '99 I went to look at had it in the seat. The mounting brackets in it would have been a little harder to modify. A buddy of mine put a 60/40 from a '97 or some year around that in his truck and he said it was easy. So I now know what year to go look at.

Definately take a seat in your buddies truck to try it on first.
