Post by: 85 chevy on February 13, 2003, 09:50:00 am
i have a lift on my truck but a rigged one. it has 4 inch blocks and a ad a leaf in the rear. and i don't think it has anything in the front. except 2 pices of 2*4 under the swaybar. and rancho rs 5000 shocks the rear end is up high and the front is low the lights point about 10 feet in front of the truck. how can i tell what kind of front springs are on there.

Life springs usually have a brand name in yellow spray paint on top of the top-most leaf.  Look in your wheel well down over your tire.  Also, what size tires do you have?

I've got 4" lift springs up front.  Take a mesaurement from the top center of your tire to wheel well and tell us what it is.  Then we can tell you how much lift you've got, if any.

Title: Arch: positive or negative?
Post by: 79GMC4x4 on February 18, 2003, 12:46:00 pm
Look at the front leaf springs.  Do they go down, into a "frown" (negative arch)?  Or are they like a smile (positive arch)?  The original springs on these 4x4's come with the negative arch (fronts only).  If it is barely positive, it is likely a 2 or 2 1/2 inch lift.  If the arch is more noticeable, it is likely a 4 inch lift up front.

i looked at the springs and they are in the frown position. where the axle is is the highest.

Sounds like you've just gotta lift the front now.  It's not bad, you need springs, shocks, and U-bolts.

Anyone have a good source for two inch lift springs for the front?
