Title: B&M shifter wiring

I have an older style B&M shifter with a switch on the side. This switch i assume is for the reverse lights and maybe something else. Never hooked one of these up before can someone tell me as to how to wire. I am sure the button on the right is for the reverse since when the shifter is moved into the reverse position it is depressed but still not sure how to wire.

     First I would check it with continuity, if there is none then put it in reverse (or maybe even park) and see if you have continuity.  If that is the case I would venture to say that a power wire has to hook up and the other goes to the reverse lights (power supplied then when you engage gear it allows power to travel to destination).
     I would also check to make sure one is not the parking indicator for say the dash light or something like that and one is for reverse.  It really depends on what you find with a continuity check and moving through the gears.  Have you tried to look up and see if instructions  are on the internet ?

I have a B&M Megashifter in my truck, and it has two switches similar to yours. One is for the backup lights, the other is for the neutral safety. If you go to B&M's website ( http://bmracing.com/?wpsc_product_category=performance-automatic-shifters-automatic-shifters-2 ) all you need to do is select which shifter you have, and at the bottom of the page there will be a link to download the installation instructions for it.

will check it out....not sure what shifter it is since it was already installed when i got the truck. but thanks for the link. Looks like a sport shifter from the pics they have.

ok yep thats what i got.....a Sport Shifter....and yes one is for the neutral safety...(closest to shifter) and the other is for the backup light. Thanks a ton for that link.

I meant to ask.......is the switch acting as completion of a ground as far as the wiring up of the reverse lights? Prob simple to wire one up but i never have before so that is why i ask.
