Title: Building up an old 83 long wide
Post by: 83long on April 04, 2012, 06:46:15 pm
I got an 83 Silverado long wide thats basically stock 350 Target motor. I recently dropped a cam and headers and intake, but now i want more. I want 202 alluminum heads, long tube headers, air gap intake, matching cam. Im running an edlebrock 650 carb and performer rpm intake, lunati bracket master II 292/292 cam, mid length flowtech headers. Im not sure which brand of what would be best or what gears to put in. if i can, find a 3 inch cowl hood and do a 2",4" drop. Im pretty much just looking for imput to see what everyone else has done, and to see whats good and what to stay away from, or if theres cheaper ways to do any of this.

I am sure someone has done something similar to what you are asking, just got to give it time and someone will see this thread.  Good luck and keep us informed on what you decide.

I am not sure exactly what you are asking.

Aluminum heads are spendy, depending on your goals and budget for the truck, I would go with some gm vortec heads, edelbrock manifold and a comp cams bump stick. Or look at summit racings top end kit. Look in the store here for your cowl hood. I like hooker headers personally with flowmaster mufflers.

I think you'll get farther ahead if you concentrate on one area at a time. You've mentioned an upgrade to the engine, suspension, hood, gearing, exhaust system, and you need to pick one area and spend your time and efforts completing one before moving to another.
