Title: Another 87 Chevy Silverado
Post by: jacknife on April 11, 2012, 09:13:11 pm
Well here's another 87 going under the knife. I took some up to date photos but they got deleted from my camera & truck is striped to the frame now but here it is several years ago. Of course it has went down hill time for a reconstruction.

It's not to bad but that is a old pic. The frame is getting alot of rust, cab corners is just starting to bubble up, & paint is fading pretty bad. So I figure its time to do something before it gets worse the truck only has 80,000 mile & the interior is like new still. Right side fuel pump went down some time ago, wife blew a head gasket in it last winter, & now the other fuel; pump has went down. The engine is awfull where it has set so much over the years with old anti freeze I made every attemp to fulsh it ( probally 6 times or more) so it may have cracked the cylinder. No matter I have a new GM engine for it. Hoping to get the frame finish up & ready for primer & paint this weekend. Not doing anything to fancy just cleaning it up & rebuilding the truck back for a daily driver. Have installed new A-arm bushings & have new bearings, rotors, & such. Planing on going back with 3:40 rear, Still debating on using my overdrive manual Trans or keeping the 700 R4 in it. She (The Wife) has decided on Hugger Orange Paint with some Silver or White pin stripping all thats still being thought up Thuo. She also wants the sun visor that I bought for my other truck. I will try & post some pic as I progress.

I am replacing the 305 with a GM 350 low hp 250 horse with Eldrbrock EPS Performer intake & the new Barry Grant 625 street demon carb. I know I am going to catch alot of chewing for going with a carb but what can I say I like Carbs. keep in mind this project is not intended to be performance related but a everyday driver unfortunately for the wife mostly.

So nice to see a frame like brand new, even in primer.  Restoring like new is a wonderful thing.

I would consider that extremely lucky that your family is least willing to help out.  It is so much more enjoyable to do projects with your family.  Those of us who have that privilege are extremely lucky.

Oh Yes, you are exactly correct on that. It is much more enjoyable just having someone to share it with. I really appreciate what a family I have they are wonderful.
