Title: 14 bolt rearend

Ok, im puttin a posi unit in my 87 v20 14 bolt sf....(tired of one leggin..haha),,,but the brackets(caps) holdin the guts in ( with the bearings) on the right side in the middle of the cap is a extra bolt holdin in a funky clip, and if u take the clip out theres somethin that can unscrew....I have no clue what that is...hahaha sorry for the weird explanation but really dont know whatcha call it...Ive done this several times but aint never done it on older ones or 3/4 tons?????  Id preciate any help!!!!!

Are you sure its a semi floating axle?  I know the full floaters has bearing preload adjusters that you screw in to set, they have clips to hold them in place.

Exactly...I thought they were only on full floats....but the left side of the housin is the regular cap with a bolt on top and one on bottom....then the right side has this in the middle like a full float????
