Title: 77 K10 mud bogger
Post by: codyC10kid on April 25, 2012, 01:04:39 pm
Kay,theres a LONG story behind this truck of mine, My buddie had it after his uncle's died, one day we went out rinding quads he didn't see the approach and Calvert (night time ditch riding) and 50mph jumped the quad rolled it a few times and totaled out the quad(my brothers quad)So in return he had no money but the pickup,So the 77 was now my bros. When we go it it didn't run (flexplate bolts where loose, carb work)So i pulled the 350 out replaced it put new plugs and wires in,got it running....needed a new steering column(they broke the key ignition to pull it on a trailer (i found a key under the seat year later) lol,SO one day i told my bro i do all the work so sell it to me (he did,i bought it for like i think $200)I then put a junkyard rebuilt once apoditime tranny in it.it leaks,it will get fixed soon,Motor is really week, the rocker arms sit sideways and make a loud clink noise and burns oil like you wouldn't believe.I got a motor out of a 95(K1500 my lil bros)I'm rebuilding it right now...any way the body of this truck is was really Bad,Dents and rust every ware...80 Rad. support,I have newish bumpers off a 74,Just like new fenders and hood off my 78,different cab and doors from a 76,Box from a 80...the cab has lil rust I'm going to replace with new panels...plans are to paint it flat black with flat clear coat....OH rims and tires paid $1000 for just like new Cooper discover STT 285/75R16 Eagle polished aluminum 16's (http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w401/Cody355355/truck1.jpg) (http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w401/Cody355355/1presanttruck1.jpg) <<<what it looks like now 4/24/2012

As far as posting pics, go the tech section and read how to post pics to the site, or post to like photo bucket and use the "insert image" button, (above that looks like Mona Lisa ).
Sounds like you got a project in front of you, glad you are fixing up the truck.

I hate to be that guy, but any chance you would take an extra 3 minutes and add some grammar?  Not trying to disrespect, just saying, that was a mess to read.

For the pics, you can also create a photobucket account, and upload there.  Then copy the "IMG" code and paste into your posts.  Very straight forward.

Good luck with the truck!

Are your plans to make it into a serious mud bogger or just an everyday truck? (asking because of the thread title)

That looks like a great deal for what you have invested in it!

My plans are to make it into a daily driver go where i want kinda truck (http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w401/Cody355355/4252012.jpg) theres was previous patch work to the box,Who ever did it,didn't do it right, they used rivets insted of welding and where they cut the box you could see a crack and rust started again,So I'm going to take my brothers box sides off his 82...and on top of the cab theres a rust hole (ill be fixing)....All together i have about under $1600 into it,that's the price of the truck tranny rims, tires and body($1000 for the tires) not to bad i don't think

Well, money is tight right now,so i cant paint my truck...Althoooo :) I have a 78 2wd with matching colors (no motor or tranny) Because the 2wd hump on the floor isn't tall enuf and i don't want to cut the floor open,I'm installing a 3 inch body lift. I'm gaining 3 things from this body lift,1 i will have a lil more room for my 33's 2 i wont have to cut the floor 3 its almost to tall to fit in the garage :) ...Because i don't have my kit yet and needed room lol i used extra body mounts that just so happen to be 3 inches :) i found that Prudy cool,i was stoked lol,So let the pics begin.....

WARNING: I did this to get the cab inside and out of the rain

What i did was just  use some extra mounts

Works well with a 3inch body lift

Yeap thats not good lol

That will make putting your body lift in easier with the cab already lifted up for you to work on. :)

I'm bord so I'll tell a little more about my truck...
The box, cab, doors, hood, fenders are from a 78 2wd and the radiator support and headlight bezels is a 80 (still need a grill)....I got a cab vizor from a 74 i want to put on. I also need to do some fixing to the box and cab.I,m also wanting to put a chrome roll bar on with 6 100 watt lights,BUT i cant find a chrome roll bar anywhere. where do you buy them,Also summitracing was nice to sell me the 3 inch body lift i did it with the help of 2 Friends (the cab me and my other friend did that,I swear that is the heaviest thing i ever lifted)yap, turned out good, even got me some mud flaps.LOL I'm hoping by this weekend i can get the mud flaps on and small fuel tank under the hood so i can move it. I took the gas tanks out so i can put a 20 gal square tank under the box and gravity feed my Electric fuel pump for my new motor I'm still building...need parts hoping in 2 weeks ill have them all :) ...going with a comp cams extreme 4x4 262H something to get my tires moving

Those might be for large mud flaps.

Whatever they are for, GM didn't put them there.  Mud flaps sound feasible.

and i believe the brackets in your fender wells are for the support brackets there should be a rod going from there to the lower part of the fender least thats what i came up with looking at mine

Sorry for the long wait on the reply....I'v been busy doing a V8 swap on my 84 S-10...My body lift was easy, only thing needed to be done was make the shifter linkage longer on a automatic, and that should come in the kit...it was really easy.I had help with 2 guys on the box and did the rest myself with a jack and wood...:)
