Post by: chevy868686 on May 03, 2012, 12:34:20 am
Im replacing my egr valve on my 86 chevy but the old one has some sort of like a spacer and a gasket in between valve and spacer and the new one came with a gasket no spacer and some washers with differen sizes ro replace your oem gm part number from the old egr...so i got the correct washer but i dont know if i gotta use the old spacer or just the gasket...does anyone know?

;D I would just use the gasket that came with it (new one) that thick spacer,I think it is just a heat insulator/gasket(i think)...on my brothers pickup i didn't use that thick spacer like thing,i threw it away...Hope my info helps,id would like to know if I'm rouge

Your old EGR valve had that extended shaft on it, that is the reason for the spacer.  The new EGR valve does not have it, so just use the supplied gasket with the new EGR valve.
