Title: Work vehicles
Post by: gto109 on May 07, 2012, 05:46:19 am
Who all here drives something while at work?  I drive an Ottawa jockey truck myself.  If you drive anything for the military, police, fire service, or an ambulance I tip my hat to you and have a whole lot of respect for you.

I have access to a 2012 GMC 3500 crew cab with a Duramax.  It's a dually with a flatdeck that the company rents for working out at site.  It's got lots of power, but I don't exactly like the overall looks of the truck inside and out.

When I'm not at "work", I usually get to drive a tractor, skid steer, combine or semi.

I enjoy my non-"work" vehicles more than the work vehicle.

A guy donated a 73-87 C20 to the church in great condition. I get to drive that around if I need to pick anything up. It has the original EVERYTHING. Trying to convince my boss to let me get the radio for a new deck.

I get to drive a 2011 Ford Escape as a company car, not picture worthy though.  I get a new one every 75K miles or so which has been every other model year.  This is the 3rd Escape, and had 5 Taurus/Sables prior to them.  Not a bad deal as a perk.  Not free however I couldn't insure a new one with full coverage insurance for what they charge me per month.  They cover all the gas/maintenance.

Here's my 2012 Hybrid Fusion.  It's quite a nice vehicle for an unmarked county sheriff's vehicle. Even has L.E. confidential tags so I can't be traced, not the usual gov't tags.  ;D  Investigations has its priveleges.

Used to drive a track mobile moving railcars full of cement.

Here it is off the tracks.

A funny story about those things...  At one of our sister plants, one of the guys got drunk and drove the thing down to the gas station to get cigarettes.   The cops couldn't find anybody who could or would tow the thing away so they had to wait for their plant manager to get there and drive it back to the plant with a police escort...  Guy didn't have a job the next morning when he woke up in the holding tank...  I have been drunk before, plenty drunk, but I never thought to do it at work and drive a huge piece of cant-miss-it machinery like that for cigs.  i can go without.

what could go wrong?  I'll blend in, nobody will notice...  HA!

Lt. Del I thank you and your nephew for protecting us.  Chevyrado basicly that trackmobile and my jockey truck do more or less the same job right?  I shuttle trailers and containers and you shuttle rail cars. ;D

I am going to get slack for this, but I drive a 2002 F350 turbo diesel with utility bed and inclosed racks over bed and open rack on top of roof.  Vehicle weighs about 9000 - 9500 loaded.

Its a work over rig, also called a pulling unit. It's used to pull the pipe or rods out of existing oil wells for maintenance.  That's one of the smallest rigs I work on. Water well rigs are alot smaller around here.

Bake74, put many miles on Fords owned by previous employers.  That 7.3 is hard to beat, I dont care who made it.

I agree with you choptop, the 7.3 is a real good engine, really runs hard with little to no trouble.

I know it's old, but here's a pic. '84 K20, 350, original running gear. Only thing replaced was brakes, starter & transmission.
