Title: How to remove top cover of Muncie SM 465

How in heavens name do I remove the top cover of the  Muncie SM 465 in my 80 3/4T Pickup???? I read the instructions from my 85 Pickup's Service Manual, but I still can't get it off!!!

Instructions would be great...Pics would be icing on the cake!!! ;)

 Remove all the bolts, and backup light switch wire , shift the transmission 1/2 way in to reverse ,than say a prayer wiggle the cover up.

That's what I did...and didn't succeed in doing anything except getting frustrated... :o

last time i did one it was about an hour of wiggling cursing and drinking beer before it finally popped out
