my 2004 impala 3.8sc with 4t65e-hd
I had a shutter about a week ago when I left a stop sign. Then it seams to be making slow gear changes, if I let it shift automatically. If I leave a stop in 1st then wait till about 2k to shift it will shift nice, same for next couple gears. At highway speed 50mph on cruise the rpms will rise then fall only by 100 or so. If I leave a stop sign without completely stopping it will slip then shift hard. Monday I got a appointment with the transmission shop, he said he will look at it for free. But if its something simple that I can do I want to do. But just looking for suggestions on what it could be. To me, it seams more of a pressure issue

I wonder along the same, if it has to do with the fluid being restricted somehow and not letting the valves move as they should.

upon doing more research "lol that just make me look smarter" but the pressure control solenoid "pcs" seams to be the culprit. just have to take the left front side of the front suspension off to get to it. bad news is the trans fluid is going to cost more than the part lol it only has 80k on her i just changed fluids at 65k the part is only 35-50 bucks. but i dont want to order online i want the part now so i have to Wait till Monday to see how much at the dealer

Scan it before you start parts changing. If you can get ahold of a scan tool and pressure gauge you can diagnose it

wouldnt the check engine light come on? i know sometimes it can be in memory but i didnt know about the trans. either way i dont know if i can get a tech II reader and a pressure tester. not going to do anything till next weekend so monday is the trans shop day see what he says. told me on the phone wont cost anything to diagnose it so we will see where that goes

See if he has a scanner and tester, maybe he would be willing to teach you something.

just thinking, do you think a flush would do any good? or since she has 80k should i just flush it anyway just for gp? i heard of people having problems with high millage but since im only 80k i didnt know if it hurt any.

If it was me I would wait until your shop looks at it, he is doing a diagnostic for free right ?

yup, just thinking a head. thinking about how much if its just this pcs or any other added cost

Ok so Saturday night I was driving the car and idk what came over me lol. But I pulled up beside a Harley at a red light. He looked at me I looked at him, and that was all that was said. Light turned green and we both took off. His bike was so loud I couldn’t tell if I was spinning wheels or not, I love that sound of strait pipes lol. But I backed off at 70 and we were still neck and neck in a dead tie. But anyway I havnt really noticed the transmission problem since. So I took it into the shop like planed anyway, maybe something was on the computer. Well nothing was and he didn’t feel any problems. So maybe I cleared something out idk, but I think its time to at least change filter maybe run something in the trans before

Good to hear the car seems to be doing better...also glad to hear a hardly (as in hardly worth riding) rider got a minor education in how much of a slug most of those bikes are. :P ;D

Either it was a stock Harley (which are not very fast) or he did not know how to ride. Most Harley's are slugs until you do a few things to them.
