Hey guys... so I have been debating for months about swapping my 83c10 cab for my friends' 86c10 cab because it is in better shape. The 86 cab has a sliding rear window which I would like to swap out for my single piece rear window I have now. My question is are they the same overall dimensions and can they be interchanged? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

They will interchange, but you will need the entire back window including the seal and lock strip. I'd buy a new one before you start.

I like the slider better

X2 on the slider.

I tend to agree, 3-60 AC is nice when its not extremely hot out. ;D

Is your truck stick, or auto transmission? is the 86 stick or auto trans?
Are they both non AC or AC trucks? or is one AC and the other non AC?
Are they both V8 trucks, or V6? Or one of each?
Are either dual tank, or one of each?
Those are the things I would be worried about way above the rear window.
Why do you want to swap, whats in better shape? Rust? Swapping a cab is alot of work, sometimes fixing rust is less.

I just like the cleaner look of the one piece window.... just personal preference. OK so just buy a new seal kit and I should be good then eh?
Blazin they are both auto, 2 wheel drive, low hump trans tunnel, no a/c, both v8, and I believe both dual tank but I will have to check. The reason I was considering a swap was mine has a but ugly sunroof and a bunch of holes in the roof from a visor, the floor was all hacked up to accomodate some bucket seats out of a plymouth acclaim, there is significant rust and rot at the bottom of the windshield seam, it needs cab corners...etc. It was also a theft recovery at one time, so the original vin is missing, so it has a special vin# assigned by the province of alberta, whereas the 86 cab has the original gm vin. Also it is available for me to work on and it would only be a hundred bucks. Still thinking about it because it is a big decision and alot of work, but summer is just about here and I want to have this thing rolling so I gotta make up my mind.

Theft recovery cab versus clean title? I'd go with the clean title cab and weld in anything you'd need.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. That is the one that is in better shape too (my friends 86). It has one dent in the roof and needs cab corners, but I am pretty sure that is it.
